Barbara Kay Ackland

Barbara Kay Ackland, 79, of Harvard, died Sat., Sept. 11 in Harvard surrounded by her family.

Barbara was born Oct. 4, 1941 in Harvard, IL to Harvey A. and Marjorie C. (Montgomery) Maynard.  She married George “Bob” Ackland on Sept. 5, 1964 in Harvard, IL.  In life, Barbara was a nurse and a member of First United Methodist Church.  Upon retiring, mom and dad enjoyed traveling and loved spending winters in Sun City, AZ.  When not traveling they enjoyed taking Emma anywhere and spending time with all of the grandkids.  She also loved her Louie!!!

Barbara is survived by her children Maggie (Bill Lowe) Ackland of St. Louise, MO and Andy (Debbie) Ackland of Harvard, grandchildren Emma, Jackie (Chris) Fiegel, Clayton (Sarah) Brennecka, and Ashley (Wade) Kleinsmith, and great-great-grandchildren Pieper and Aiden Fiegel, Ava and Miles Brennecka, and Addi, Ryder, Jackson, and Hunter Kleinsmith.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob on March 3, 2010, her parents, and brother Richard.

A memorial gathering will be 4 – 7 PM Thur., Sept. 16 at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard, IL 60033.

In lieu of flowers, donations by be given to MercyHealth Hospice, St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, or any local no-kill animal shelter.
