Viola Johnston Obituary
HARVARD – Viola H. Johnston, 91, of Harvard and formerly of Capron, died Sunday, Nov. 2, at Mercy Harvard Care Center.
She was born April 6, 1917 in Alden Township to Frank Zimmerman and Ida Gates. On June 26, 1937, Viola married Orel C. Johnston in Harvard, IL.
Viola farmed along with her husband for many years. Later she was a bus driver and janitor at the Capron Grade School. Viola was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvard and she loved her family.
Surviving Relatives are: 1 Granddaughter: Debbie (Terry McCoy) Bond of Cleveland, TN; 1 Great-Granddaughter: Michelle (Jason) Wood of Chantilly, VA; 1 Sister: Helen Gossell of Harvard and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Orel on Jan. 24, 1991, daughter: Karen Schupp; son-in-law: Roger Schupp; and brothers and sisters.
The visitation will be 10 AM until the 12 Noon funeral service Wed., Nov. 5 at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard, IL. The interment will follow at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Harvard. Rev. Herbert Priester will officiate.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 504 E. Diggins St., Harvard or the Mercy Harvard Care Center.
