Vimy Louise (Burtelson) Stauss

Vimy Louise (Burtelson) Stauss, 71, of Harvard passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Golden Years of Lake Geneva, WI.

In John 6:39-40 Jesus said: “And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.”

She was born December 23, 1947, in Chicago, IL the daughter of the late Frederick and Vimy Lorraine (Carnahan) Burtelson. Vimy married the love of her life John “Jack” Stauss on May 1, 1971, in Chicago, IL.

Vimy worked for Centegra Hospital for 36 years before retiring. She will be remembered for her unconditional love and care she gave her family and friends. Vimy was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Woodstock. She enjoyed her women’s bible study group, and watching birds; her favorite being the hummingbird. One of her favorite pastimes were enjoying time with her grandchildren and going to all their activities. Through her strong faith in God, she leaves a godly legacy to her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Jack; children John (Rachel) Stauss, Joel (Dawn) Stauss, and Robert Stauss; four grandchildren Carissa, Austin, Isabella, and Jake; brother Frederick (Grace) Burtelson; and many other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St. Harvard, IL 60033. A second visitation will be Friday, January 11, 2019, from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM at Grace Fellowship Church, 200 Cairns Court, Woodstock, IL 60098. Burial will be private.
