Serena Lynn Hawes

Serena Lynn Hawes, 26, of Harvard, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018, in Chicago, IL. 

Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is close to the broken-hearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Serena’s war with addiction started from the day she was born. Her biological mother suffered from the same consuming disease, leaving Serena with an uphill battle from her first to her last breath, and yet, Serena was still full of love. Above anything, Serena loved her sweet, beautiful, vivacious daughter, Natalia. Natalia brought tremendous love, light, and joy to Serena’s life.

Unfortunately, evil’s illusion of euphoria ultimately took this mother from her child, family, friends, and world on October 19, 2018.

In addition to Natalia, Serena is survived by her mother (Donna Hawes), her father (Carl Hawes), her brothers (Zach and Scott Hawes), her sister-in-laws (Kelsey & Laura Hawes), her niece and nephews (Addison, Alton, and Landon Hawes), her grandparents (Edward and Elaine Cassens),    and her extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Lord, we pray that you receive Serena with your arms of unconditional love and fill her soul with peace. Amen.

Both the visitation and funeral services, in memory of Serena Lynn Hawes, will be held at Cornerstone Community Church, 343 S. Division St. #3, Harvard, IL 60033. Tuesday, October 23, 2018. Visitation will begin at 6 PM, and funeral service will begin at 7 PM.
