Robert Lee Nixon, 83, of Woodstock formerly of Harvard; passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at his daughter’s home surrounded by his family, Rebecca Nixon Estrada, Michael D. Amico, and Rito Estrada.
He was born August 28, 1935, to Elmer and Margaret (Jones) Nixon in Martins Ferry, OH. On December 1, 1964, Robert married Kay Marlene Moore in St. Clairsville, Ohio. She preceded him in death on October 17, 2015. Bob served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
In 1965, Bob moved to Illinois. He was hired by the McHenry Hospital where he ran their first respiratory department from 1965-1989. Robert worked as a respiratory therapist until his retirement in 1998.
Bob was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Harvard. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and his dogs. Bob loved staying active and helping others.
Survivors include his daughter Rebecca (Rito) Estrada of Woodstock, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; spouse Kay; siblings Elmer (Nick) Nixon Jr., William Nixon, and Edwin Nixon.
There will be a memorial gathering from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church, 7100 Harvard Hills Road, Harvard, IL 60033. Memorial services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Claire Brennecka officiating. A luncheon will follow the services at the church.
