Phillip Arthur Sandford, 90, formerly of Harvard, died Fri., Dec. 1 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL.
He was born on May 17, 1927 to Fred and Alice (Howland) Sandford in Pontiac, MI.
On September 13, 1947, Phillip married Joyce Wagner in Porterfield, WI. She preceded him in death on August 3, 2011.
Phillip worked as an electrical engineer and he also served in the United States Navy during the time of WWII. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Harvard and he was also a member of the Master Gardeners.
Phillip is survived by his children, Harold (Suzanne Sanders) Sandford of Groton, MA, Kerry Sandford of Manchester, MI, Craig (Jin Jin) Sandford of Buffalo Grove, IL, Phyllis (David) Gobel of Bala Cynwyd, PA, Dale (Carol) Sandford of Santa Cruz, CA; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brother, Paul (Carol) Sandford of Capistrano, CA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; parents, Fred and Alice; siblings, Margaret Vreeland and Tom Sandford.
The visitation will be from 10am to 11am on Friday, December 8, 2017, at the First Presbyterian Church, 7100 Harvard Hills Rd. Harvard, IL, 60033. Services will follow at 11am at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Harvard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Harvard Presbyterian Church Foundation.
