Mary K. (Smith) Rasmussen

Mary Katherine Rasmussen, 71, of Harvard died on Tuesday, April 30, 2019.

She was born in Winona, MN on July 20, 1947; the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine (Foft) Smith.

Mary graduated from the University of Northern Illinois with a Bachelor’s Degree and then received a Master’s Degree in Teaching.

Mary worked as a case manager for the McHenry County Health Department for many years before retiring. She enjoyed taking walks and spending time with friends and family. Mary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister.

Mary was a kind hearted loving person who will be deeply missed and had a life she was proud to have lived.

Survivors include her best friend and sister Theresa Ozse; children Erik (Erica) Rasmussen of Haslet, TX, and Kyle (Tiffani) Rasmussen of Fort Worth, TX; 7 grandchildren who affectionately called her Granna Abigail, Elizabeth, Kai, Grace, Troy, Elijah, and Koba; siblings Barbara (Steve) Reay of Tularosa, NM, and Sharon (James) Rounds of Alamogordo, NM; nephews Charlie (Andrea) Rounds; niece Jenny (Joseph) Roque; as well as 5 great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mary’s wishes were to be cremated. There will be a Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 206 E. Front Street, Harvard, IL 60033. Inurnment will be Union Cemetery, Crystal Lake, IL.
