Katherine Beth Leonard

Katherine Beth Leonard, 87, of Harvard, died November 21 in Harvard.

Katherine was born November 17, 1931 to Joseph J. and Marie Ann Meier in Capron, IL.  On Nov. 11, 1950, she married Francis “Bud” Leonard in Rockford, IL.  She own and operated a pony ride business, where she was known as the “pony lady.”  Katherine loved to do pony rides, go to horse shows with her grandchildren, watching her sons and grandsons race horses, and watching birds.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvard and a past member of the Harvard Moose Lodge.

Survivors include her son: Terry (Nancy) Leonard of Harvard, 3 grandchildren: Shannon (Brian) Bailey of Harvard, Casey (Maureen) of Harvard, and Ross (Rachel) of Anderson, IN, 4 great-grandchildren: McKenna, Paige, Sophia, and Cayden, a brother Don (Susan) Meier of Capron, many nieces and nephews, and a special thank-you to her caregivers Urna and Nora.

She was preceded in death by her husband Francis “Bud” Leonard on Dec. 15, 1995, her son Gary “Wiggles” Leonard, and seven brothers and sisters.

The visitation will be 5 to 8 PM Mon., Nov. 26 at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard, IL 60033, and again on Tues, Nov. 27 from 10 AM until the 11 AM funeral service at the funeral home.  The Rev. Elizabeth Martin will officiate.  Interment will be at Chemung Township Cemetery.
