Jenny (Markovich) Pidgeon

Jenny Pidgeon, 94, of Harvard passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2018, at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born on June 21, 1924, in Victoria, MI the daughter of the late Peter and Johanna (Kopatich) Markovich. Jenny married Leo E. Pidgeon on July 5, 1941, in Painsdale, MI; he preceded her in death on January 13, 1980.

Jenny was a member of the St. Joseph Rosary Society, Women of the Moose, and the Golden Agers. She enjoyed volunteering at St. Joseph and Highland Hospital in Belvidere and the Harvard food pantry. Jenny was known as the “Candy Lady” to many that knew her. She was kind and caring to everyone she met and she loved working in the gift shops.

Survivors include her children Lorraine (David) Nolan, Bernard Pidgeon, and Robert Pidgeon all of Harvard; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one sister Pauline Butkovich of Westland, MI.

She was preceded in death by her spouse Leo; grandson Daniel L. Nolan; brothers John, Walter, and Andrew Markovich.

A Memorial Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 206 E. Front Street Harvard, IL 60033. Inurnment will follow in Highland Gardens Cemetery, Belvidere, IL.
