Carole Jean Ira

Carole Jean Ira, 71, of Harvard passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born July 21, 1946, in Harvard, IL; the daughter of the late Lynn C. and Helen (Miller) Holland.

Carole cleaned houses for many years as well as worked as a child caregiver for many families. She was so loved by them that she was known as the “second mom,” being invited to many of their social events throughout the years. When Carole got some free time, she enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, doing crossword puzzles and word search games, taking walks and listening to good music.

On July 23, 1969, Carole married Robert D. Ira in Harvard, IL.

Survivors include her husband Robert; children Michele Hilgendorf, and Melody (Brian) Kaspari; granddaughter Makayla Hilgendorf; and her sister Shirley Sweatman. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Sharon Cady, and brother Walter Holland.

Per Carole’s wishes she will be cremated with a private family burial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, P.O Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
