Barbara G. Schultz (88) was called to her eternal rest in the early morning of Friday, September 28, 2018, at the Mercy Harvard Care Center. Barbara was born to Carl and Ione (Swift) Ritter on January 4, 1930. She was a 1948 graduate of Capron High School. On May 7, 1949, she married Alvin G. Schultz of Harvard who preceded her in death in December of 1972. In the early years of her marriage, Barbara was a homemaker on the family farm. Later she cooked for the children of Central School in Harvard, before working at Badger Marine Hardware in Harvard until her retirement.
Barbara was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvard where she was active, singing in the senior choir for nearly fifty years. She was also a longtime member of the Women of the Moose in Harvard. In her later years, she greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, brother Douglas Ritter, sisters Margaret Lungwitz and Harriet Gott and son-in-law John Garbrecht. She is survived by her brothers Paul Ritter of Murietta, CA and Eugene (Arla) Ritter of Medford, OR.; her sisters Dorothy Rumple of Rockford and Donna Koltz of Monrovia, CA; sister-in-law Mary June Swenson; her children Steven (Kim) Schultz of Harvard, Paula Garbrecht of Pingree Grove, Richard (Kelly Kennedy) Schultz of Belvidere, and Dale Schultz of Rockford; grandchildren Matthew (Ashley) Schultz of Kenosha, WI, Andrea (Ben Belholavy), of Harvard, Daniel Schultz of Harvard, and Brian Garbrecht of Elgin, IL; great-grandchildren Lily and Sullivan Schultz; and nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
Visitation for Barbara will be on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 504 E. Diggins, Harvard, IL beginning at 9:30 am. The funeral service will begin at 11:30 am, officiated by Pastor Elizabeth Martin. Inurnment will be at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Harvard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or the National Arthritis Foundation (www.arthritis.org).
