August "Augie" H. Kasten Jr.

August H. “Augie” Kasten, Jr., 69, of Harvard passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Mercy Harvard Hospital.

He was born December 7, 1948, in Harvard, IL to August H. and Darlene (Kotlz) Kasten Sr. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp.

Augie worked as a machinist at Badger Marina for over 30 years until retirement. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed farming, animals; but most of all spending time with his family.  He would call his children every day to touch base with them.

On September 19, 1970, Augie married the love of his life Faith Jones. They have been happily married for 48 years.  

Survivors include his wife Faith; children Tammy (John) Morris, Adam (Stephanie) Kasten, Brenda (Jason Schultz) Kasten, Scott (Danielle Dickson) Kasten; 15 grandchildren Ashley (Matt), Matthew (Tiffani), Maddilynn, August Jerry, Alison, Emma, Jack, Ethan, Noah, Wyatt, Morgan, Autumn and, Savanna; 3 great-grandchildren Jase, Jonathan, and one on the way Lance; one sister Geri Crowell; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Pamela Jean; sister Patricia (Robert) Sorenson and brother-in-law Eddie Crowell.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2018, Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St. Harvard, IL 60033. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Harvard, IL.
